My paintings, pastels and photographs are informed by his personal experience of having lived in Los Angeles and New York City. Craig uses a range of media to create intimate explorations of the relationship between his surroundings and the formation of his social identity. Having worked late hours in two of the greatest cities, he has seen everything between startling beauty and the absolute perverse. Inspired by the streets, Collins ingests the psychological and physical landscapes of the city. His compositions weave together his fascinations with the human form, facial expressions through layered portrayals of personal struggle and hardship. Collins' work investigates the divergent energies of Los Angeles and New York City; vast and laid back with energy respectively.
