John Thamm lives in Spokane WA and has a winter studio in Bisbee, AZ. As an accomplished portrait- landscape painter, he teaches painting workshops in the US and
John has been a courtroom sketch artist for TV and newspaper media including CNN, ABC, Associated Press, KREM, KXLY and the Spokesman Review. Notable trials he has covered were Ruby Ridge, the Branch Davidian-Waco Trial, and the Aryan Nations Trial in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. John’s portrait of Gerry Spence is in the attorney’s private art collection.
Thamm received his undergraduate and Master of Fine Arts degrees from the University of Idaho. Under a Ford Foundation scholarship he moved to New York City and studied at the Art Student’s League with Samuel E Oppenheim and was mentored by Jack Levine. John’s work is in private collections and the Wolfson Museum in Miami Beach, FL.
John's recent shows -"Politically Objectionable" and "CHOICE?" are his observations of the 2016 presidential campaign.
