Acrylic colour on Thai handmade mulberry paper, deckled edges, 21 x 31 inches 53 x 69 cm, 2014
Thanks again Kissra for such a choice of poses!
This is based more of her pics, from the same photo series that inspired the small painting I recently completed. Again this is about composition, body language & expressions, and a generous blend of textures.
Here I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. The result is a thick parchment type paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. The nature of the paper is such that each page will be slightly different… maybe little thicker, or pressed at a slight angle.
The close up picture is of higher resolution to be able to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there's the work in progress, and me with the painting for perspective.
Provenance / History of This Item:

When considering framing bear in mind to not cover up the deckled edges. This is one of the specialties of the painting, one of its charms. It is best displayed framed with a cut mat board around the painting so as not to cover the edges, thereby putting some space between the art and the glass and bringing depth to the framed art. It can also be framed simply with backing board and pressed with glass over the front without causing damage.
