Low bas relief: Plaster and powder pigments on masonite canvas

For me, inspiration comes from many places -- the natural world, archaeology, history, science, even cartoons. I love telling a story in one image. Counting Sheep was born from my love of ancient cultures, as well as my warped sense of humor. This is an original composition based on Anasazi petroglyphs found at Newspaper Rock, Utah, as well as several other sites. I created CS by layering plaster and coloring it with powder pigments. The images were created using hand-crafted forms. I placed a great deal of thought and care into this piece. I hope you enjoy it.
