Low bas relief: plaster and powder pigments

For me, inspiration comes from many places -- the natural world, archaeology, history, science, even cartoons. I love telling a story in one image. 'Beep Beep' was born from my love of ancient cultures, as well as my warped sense of humor. This is an original composition based on Pueblo petroglyphs found at La Cieneguilla, New Mexico. The meaning of many petroglyphs is elusive, however the coyote is known as a clever trickster. Roadrunners might represent mental and physical speed and agility. I created BB by layering plaster and coloring it with powder pigments. The images were created using hand-crafted forms.I hope this piece brings a smile to your day.
