'Impossible is Nothing'

Spray Paint on Canvas.
A Tribute to Muhammad Ali.
I wanted to get the best of both worlds on this one. Believe it or not for as simple as they look, comics are extremely challenging. Finding that balance between animation and realism, while making the two together seem natural was something I struggled with. Behind this piece, I wanted to paint this idea that life itself, is an on going battle with self-set-goals. These things that both we and others believe to be unattainable are all things that start with our own mental mindsets. Superman, represents both this idea and our 'unrealistic' and 'unattainable' dreams. By placing Superman in the ring, I wanted to show that the mortal and fearless Ali was willing to face someone unbeatable. Something many would consider fictional or insane. Just our like many of our dreams.. By portraying Superman in submission to Ali, I wanted to show that anything is possible. It's just a matter of getting into the ring to face it. 'Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.' ~ M. Ali
