    A mural at Teotihuacán, bordered by water
    plants, depicts a turquoise-masked Tlaloc,
    God of Rain, water pouring from his hands.
    This seemed like the appropriate background
    for this 'Creature from the Black Lagoon'
    mask, bought on the street in Nuevo
    Progreso, Tamaulipas. Or perhaps instead,
    Kristin represents the young girls sacrificed
    each year to Chalchiuhtlicue, the Goddess of
